Pauleen Luna was an ugly duckling
We’ve all seen Pauleen Luna. The Pauleen Luna today is beautiful and successful, right? Little did we know that she had an ugly duckling phase in her life. It was very difficult to imagine that someone that beautiful looked so different when she was a kid. I always thought kids were generally good-looking and cute in their own respect. But when I saw the toddler Pauleen Luna earlier today, I was proven wrong.
Today in Eat Bulaga, the Sa Pula, Sa Puti portion featured former Mr. Pogi and Little Miss Philippine contestants. The kids are mostly teenagers now, and before they were presented a video clip of them in the pageant years ago was shown just to refresh people’s memories.
After introducing all the contestants, it was also revealed that Pauleen Luna also joined Little Miss Philippines back in 1995 but unfortunately she didn’t win. Pia Guanio even mentioned that they were going to show a video clip of Pauleen’s talent portion later on in the show. It was clear from Pauleen’s reaction that she wasn’t expecting any video clip at all. Allan K teased her further by commenting that she wasn’t as attractive when she was a young girl.
Everyone cheered when Allan K made the comment. Apparently, like me, they wanted to know if it was possible.
A few minutes later, they showed an unattractive little girl with her two front teeth missing, dancing to an old tune in the talent portion of Little Miss Philippines. The hosts and the audience jeered upon seeing the video, and Pauleen although embarrassed endured the few seconds it lasted.
My point? Everyone has an ugly duckling phase in their lives, and it depends on every individual. My ugly duckling phase was in high school when I acted so tomboyish and ran away from boys all the time. It’s good to think that in this world, the video of the young Pauleen Luna proves that there is still justice, and hope for everyone who feels they’re ugly once in a while.
