When Philippine showbiz sweetheart Bea Alonzo broke up with actor Mico Palanca (younger brother of famous actor Bernard Palanca) last year, the couple kept their silence about the issue. Neither one of them was willing to talk about the details of the split. Soon it was eclipsed by the news that the actress was dating another handsome actor, Jake Cuenca.

But several months later, the beautiful Alonzo admits to the public that there never was anything between her and Jake and that she is still very much in love with her former beau, Mico.

When asked if she had ever loved someone, the actress was quoted saying: “Alam naman ng lahat that it’s Mico (Everyone knows it’s always been Mico).”

Though the two had been a couple “officially” for only a year before the break-up, Alonzo counts the three years (!) that he courted her as part of their relationship.

“Marami siyang naituro saakin to be a better person (He taught me to be a better person).”

Why the break-up, then?

“It’s because what we had was a mature relationship… Okay, parang we both love each other, so mas gusto naming na mapaganda yung buhay ng isa’t-isa (We both love each other, so we want the best for each other’s lives)… Mico is gonna be Mico in my heart. Walang makaka-replace sakanya kasi naging parte siya ng buhay ko, so wala siyang kapareha (No one can replace him because he was a part of my life, so I can’t compare him with anyone).”

Is it just me, or is it really hard to find the logic in all this?

Who could forget Sandara Park and her pesky little pop song entitled In or Out drowning the airwaves for months a few years ago? She was first known when she joined the reality celebrity-search in ABS-CBN Star Circle Quest. But what struck people most about her wasn’t her remarkable talent, but her sheer lack of it and her apparent confidence despite that fact.

She was given a few patweetum stints in acting and singing, even modeling as you can see with the sexy pictures of Sandara Park below when she posed for UNO magazine. However, there were more promising Pinay celebrities who were from her same batch and who much more talented than her so eventually she resorted to going back to her hometown, South Korea, to try her luck there.

And a few years later, we hear Sandara Park’s name again, but not because she’s come back to the Philippines but because she’s a member of one of the Korean pop group 2NE1 and they’re making quite a buzz in their country and ours. If anything, Sandara Park should be commended for her perseverance to do what she wants to do, if not for being so assertive despite being mediocre at her chosen crafts.
